Fallbrook Library Mosaic Detail

On June 17, 2009, Betsy Schulz was awarded the contract for the Major Donor Wall on the east side of the soon-to-be-built Fallbrook Library designed by Ferguson, Pape, Baldwin Architects and architect Manuel Oncina Architects, Inc. Her mural concept consists of imagery that reflects the feeling of the Fallbrook community, words and literary sayings, and donor tiles in between. She and the Friends of the Fallbrook Library will be sponsoring a workshop for members of the community to create word tiles for the background of the mural. The date and time of that event will be announced.

The project will formally start in October of 2009

“The tracks we leave behind”
Local artist Betsy Schulz created ceramic mosaics on ten columns at the Sapphire Tower at Kettner and A Street, adjacent to the trolley tracks. The mosaics represent the history of San Diego County from pre-colonial times to the present. The murals are composed entirely of hand made ceramic tiles that must number in the tens of thousands. A most impressive display and reminder of our past.
