Fallbrook Library Garden Room Wall

Overview
The theme of this wall mural is nature, sustainability and reuse, inspired by the design of the building—particularly the green roof. The poured-in-place concrete retaining wall has the silhouettes of grasses, native plants, birds and butterflies sandblasted along the surface. There are six recessed areas, each holding a mural with a specific quote. The imagery of the mural is influenced by the quotes. The layers of the earth that have accumulated under the trees of today artistically represent a different eras of history. Handmade-tiles, metal objects, stones, fossil tiles, items found in the building excavation, and donated from the community are incorporated into the design.
